After being a Christian for several years, I have come to realize that there are real tangible benefits to being a child of God. Not counting be saved from hell, there is a certain peace of mind to be gained by knowing that at all times the Lord is in control.
Isa 26:3-4 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:
In these 2 verses, the believer is remind that God will keep him in perfect peace no matter what the situation. In this context, Isaiah was actually extolling that Israel would suffer some pretty severe punishment as a result of their moral mishaps as a nation.
As individuals, we sometimes will suffer from the mistakes of our country, but that shouldn’t cause us to worry fear or panic. I’ve found that especially since the economic downturn (which has recovered almost 30% I might add!) many Christians were the first people to begin to panic. This is absolutely nonsense. I believe that one of the key benefits of Christianity is the ability to easily weather severe and scary situations, knowing that in the end God will work all things out for good if you will live your life for him!
