January 9th is a bit late to be making a post about the new year, but it’s never too late begin attempting to do better in lives for the Lord. One of the neat things that my church does every year is pick a theme for our church and unveil it during our new year’s eve service. Then each year our bulletin, website, church, and our goals for the year center around this theme.
For example when I first joined, our theme was “Give me that olde time religion!” Last year’s theme was, “A decade of blessings!” for our 10th year anniversary. This year our theme is “I will build my Church!” take from Matthew 16:18.
This is all very exciting for my church, but I began to think, what about picking a theme for my life personally? This was a new concept to me and in fact, a friend of mine planted the idea in my head as it is something that he has done personally in his life for several years now.
So I asked the Lord, what should I make the theme for my life in 2009?
After much though I decided on Galations 6:9 “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
Consistency is one of the most prominent character traits among successful people. People who plod along and work at something over time eventually reap great rewards for their efforts. So with that in mind, I have decided not to be weary and to make consistency in well doing my theme for 2009.
What is your theme for the new year?
