Psa 26:1  A Psalm of David. Judge me, O LORD; for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in the LORD; therefore I shall not slide.

Ever had a period in your life when you were backsliding from the Lord? I think nearly every person that has been a Christian any length of time has experience this. At the very least I know there have been times when I wasn’t moving forward if not necessarily backsliding.

Why is this? I think one of the reasons that Christians backslide is because they are doing well! When we have success in our life or in the church we begin to feel that we do not need to lean on God like we did to get there. Because we trust in ourselves we quickly fail and end up backsliding. This is why I know that backsliding for me has often come with success in my life.

In this verse, the David says that he will keep from backsliding in his life beceause he is trusting in the Lord. When we have success it is very important to stay cool and remember that it was the Lord who brought you to that point in your life.

There is nothing good that we can accomplish on our own. We NEED God in the most desperate way to even breathe in and out on this earth and yet we act as if it was all us. That is a dangerous place to be.
