Psa 101:2 I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.
Psa 101:3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.

How many of you have read Psalm 101:3 and thought, “…huh that’s a good verse.” But have never looked at the context? It’s interesting that even well known verses can have vastly different meanings or even added meaning when viewed in their natural context.

This entire Psalm is about holy living for righteous people. But notice that setting no wicked thing in front of you and hating evil applies specifically to your own home!

Most christians don’t have a problem hating evil and averting their eyes while they are in church, in public, or with christian friends, but the amount of sin that occurs in their own homes through the internet and television is astounding. True holiness is a 24/7 commitment to hating evil and eschewing the wicked filth the devil presents to us on a daily basis wherever we care to look.

Let’s get holy and get the wickedness out of our homes like verse 2 says we should!
